Tau Sigma Charity Foundation

The three foremost programs sponsored by Tau Sigma and falling under the financial umbrella of the foundation are: College Scholarships, Shoes for Kids, and Toys for Kids The Tau Sigma Scholarship program is dedicated to enhancing the educational opportunities of deserving African American high school seniors through the offering of financial assistance. Since the Foundation’s inception, over $10,000.00 in scholarship financial aid has been awarded to Birmingham area high school seniors. Tau Sigma strongly believes, “To impact the leadership of tomorrow, we must act today. The Shoes for Kids initiative began in December 1948 when Brother Robert “Bob” Wilson noticed barefoot kids playing outside his establishment, the Savoy Club, located in the 4th Ave District of Birmingham, on a cold, icy winter night. To date, it is estimated that tens of thousands of Birmingham's needy children have been the beneficiaries of this charitable venture. Toys for Kids has entered into its fourth year of existence and has provided over $5,000.00 in toys and gifts to elementary students within the Greater Birmingham metropolitan area. Other chapter programs supported by the foundation include: American Cancer Society, Breast Cancer Awareness, Sickle Cell, and March of Dimes
